Avandia is applied in combination with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes). If you will control your blood sugar level you'll be able to prevent kidney disease, blindness, heart disease, strokes, and circulation problems, as well as sexual function problems (impotence). Avandia is used either alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic medications (e.g., sulfonylureas, metformin, insulin). Avandia belongs to the class of anti-diabetic drug (thiazolidinedione-type, also called "glitazones").
