Avapro is applied for treating high blood pressure (hypertension) and to help protect the kidneys from damage due to diabetes. The principle of work of this medication consists in blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. HOW TO USE AVAPRO:

As far as most people with high blood pressure feel fine it is necessary to take this medication even if you do not feel sick.

AVAPRO SIDE EFFECTS:

You may experience blurred vision, stomach upset, dizziness, lightheadedness, or heartburn as your body adjusts to the medication. Inform your doctor in the case of worsening or persisting any of the side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious avapro side effects. If you experience such unusual but serious side effects as fainting, decreased sexual ability, change in the amount of urine, unusual fatigue, muscle pain/tenderness/weakness stomach/abdominal pain, severe nausea, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, inform your doctor immediately. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Don't forget that your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of the avapro side effects.

AVAPRO PRECAUTIONS:

Tell your doctor if you have any allergic reaction. Your doctor or pharmacist must know your medical conditions, especially if you have such problems as high blood levels of potassium, kidney disease, liver disease, heart problems, severe dehydration (and loss of electrolytes such as sodium). This drug may make you dizzy. Be attentive while engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcohol. Try to get up slowly to reduce risk of lightheadedness or giddiness. Inform your doctor that you are taking this remedy before you have surgery. Elder people are more sensitive to the side effect of this medication, especially the dizziness effect. Avapro is not recommended during the first three months of pregnancy. It is not recommended for use during the last six months of the pregnancy due to the risk for harm to an unborn baby. Discuss all pro and contra with your doctor. It is not known if avapro passes into breast milk. Breast-feeding is not recommended due to the potential harm to the nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

AVAPRO INTERACTIONS:

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be acquainted with any possible avapro interactions. Your doctor should know about all the remedies you are taking, especially of: digoxin, lithium, "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide; potassium-sparing diuretics such as amiloride, triamterene, spironolactone). Look through the labels on all your medications to find out if they contain ingredients that could increase your blood pressure. Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those products. Low-dose aspirin, as prescribed by your doctor for specific medical reasons such as heart attack or stroke prevention (usually at dosages of 81-325 milligrams per day), should be continued.
