Norvasc may be applied alone or in combination with other medications. This remedy is applied for treating high blood pressure (hypertension), certain kinds of chest pain (vasospastic angina, chronic stable angina, coronary artery disease). Such health problems as strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems may be prevented with lowering high blood pressure. Relieving symptoms of angina can increase your ability to exercise and perform strenuous work. Norvasc belongs to the class of calcium channel blockers. The principle of its work consists in relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. It may relieve the symptoms of angina by relaxing narrowed blood vessels and lowering blood pressure so that the heart muscle does not have to work as hard to pump blood through your body.

HOW TO USE NORVASC:

It is an oral medication. It is recommended to take norvasc one time a day in the morning or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole. If you cannot swallow a whole tablet, you may cut it in half to make swallowing easier. The dosage depends on your age, medical condition, body size, and response to therapy. In order not to forget take the remedy at the same time. As far as most people with high blood pressure feel well it is necessary to take the remedy even if you do not feel sick. About two weeks may pass before you feel the full effect of this medication. If used for angina, this medication must be taken regularly to be effective. It should not be used to treat angina when it occurs. Use other medications (e.g., sublingual nitroglycerin) to relieve an angina attack as directed by your doctor. Ask your doctor for more information. Sudden stop of taking norvasc may result in worsening your conditions. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased. In the case of worsening or persisting your conditions notify your doctor immediately.
